Backed by a dominant defensive line, Michigan finished the regular season fifth in the country in defense. The Wolverines allow only 13. 3 points on just 277. 1 of total offense, while TCU allows 25 points on 385. 1 yards. 🏆 HISTORY: Every college football national championship The Horned Frogs, however, have a high-powered offense led by Heisman finalist Max Duggan. TCU ranked 14th offensively in the nation by averaging 473 yards per game — more than half in the air with 273 passing yards. Michigan cruised to victory in all but one game, beating opponents by 26.
Duggan also rushed for 404 yards using his speed to find the end zone six times. Wide receiver Quentin Johnston topped the Frogs with 903 receiving yards and five touchdowns. However, Duggan targeted several receivers with five, including Johnston, catching at least four touchdown passes. As the Wolverines hold opponents to 85. 2 rushing yards, they pick up over 200 yards on the ground per game, almost equaling their passing (210. 5). Running back Blake Corum rushed for 1, 463 yards but is out with a knee injury.
